Meet Karen Ice-Burris, the fearless leader, and Principal Designer at Ice Interior Design. With a bachelor’s degree in interior design from Samford University, Karen’s passion for design started early in her life. Based in Austin for the past 20 years, Karen is a devoted wife and loving mom to her two sons, along with their two adorable Bernedoodles, Doolin and Laird. As a native Texan, Austin has been Karen Ice-Burris’s home for two decades, where she embraces the hill country, water activities, and embarks on never-ending shopping and culinary expeditions. Leading her talented team, she thrives on coaching and empowering them to unleash their full potential. Her extensive travels around the world, including studying abroad and living overseas, have shaped her design aesthetic, blending modern and classic elements with whimsy and quirk. With unwavering dedication, she’s building Ice Interior Design into an Austin legend and beyond. Challenges? They’re her jam! Excellence is her team’s middle name, and together they create remarkable spaces that reflect the unique stories of her clients. Karen’s wanderlust knows no bounds, as she dreams of escaping to Ireland part-time, trading Texas heat for enchanting landscapes and a pint of Guinness. Meet Andrea Burgmeier, the talented and reliable Junior Designer extraordinaire at Ice ID. With a degree in Design from Northern Iowa, she’s on a quest to become an NCDIQ-certified design ninja. When not unleashing her creativity, Andrea enjoys the great outdoors, quality time with loved ones, and the art of cozy relaxation. Greece stole her heart with its beauty and tantalizing cuisine, fueling her thirst for adventure. Alaska’s calling Andrea, promising a dance with the mesmerizing northern lights. But don’t be fooled by her quiet demeanor—she’s always ready to bust a move on the dance floor when she hears “The Dancing Queen.” Andrea’s attention to detail and creativity bring modern elegance, simplicity, and warmth to her designs. She’s a reliable and focused asset to the Ice ID team, leaving her mark on every project. Beyond design, Andrea supports the Boys & Girls Club and volunteers at animal shelters. She dreams of having her own pack of lovable canines someday. In Austin, Texas, Andrea embraces the friendly vibe and vibrant culture. She’s a foodie and explorer of outdoor spaces, always on the hunt for hidden gems. When it’s time to indulge, Andrea savors a bowl of heavenly ice cream, with Oreo and cookies and cream as her go-to flavors. Andrea Burgmeier brings undeniable talent, dedication, and a fresh perspective to Ice ID’s projects. Her creativity and warmth leave an indelible mark on every space she touches.

Introducing Doolin, the Bernedoodle with a sweet and sassy personality. Named after one of Karen’s favorite places in Ireland, Doolin embodies our vibrant and playful spirit. With her delightful nature, she brings joy and laughter to everyone she meets. Meet Laird, the Bernedoodle with a gentle and sweet demeanor. While initially shy, once he gets to know you, he becomes a loyal and devoted friend for life. Laird carries the surname of his Irish great grandmother, adding a touch of heritage to his identity. With his endearing nature, Laird forms deep connections and brings comfort and companionship to those around him. Despite his reserved nature, Laird’s loyalty and affection shine through, making him a cherished member of our team.

SO, WHAT'S WITH ICE?

Ice Interior Design LLC was founded in 2007 by Karen Ice-Burris. After 2+ years of working for a local design firm averaging 60 to 80 hours a week, Karen was desperate to be home with her two young boys. The goal was to be able to raise her boys, while still engaging in the field of design at her own pace. So, the family down-sized and Ice Interior Design was born.

In 2015, we added a second Designer and became a corporation. We hired our Design Coordinator in 2017, and are currently adding to our talented team.

LEADERSHIP

Ice Interior Design is led by Karen Ice-Burris, right here in the busily-growing, awesome, Austin, TX. Like most professionals, our craft begins with a Degree (Bachelor of Science in Interior Design). As Designers, we also maintain a professional membership with the ASID (American Society of Interior Designers). We’ve been designing interiors for nearly two decades since, and have happily developed our niche here in central Texas.

WHAT ICE MEANS FOR OUR CLIENTS

We cut our teeth in Residential Interior Design, working with model homes, nationally. That pedigree is about the details — everything we do is carefully arranged and curated. We have a multi-step process that we explain in our initial meeting. Our clients have a clear understanding of what will be happening from their initial consultation through installation.

TO-THE-TRADE ONLY VENDOR ACCOUNTS:

Many Designers and Decorators shop locally and are at the mercy of purchasing items off a showroom floor. We have worked hard to establish multiple direct-buy lines. Our vendor accounts offer our clients a much broader range unique choices. The end result is a true custom look for your home.

VET YOUR DESIGNER!

Not every design entity you’ll encounter is accredited as an Interior Designer. Also, not retaining an actual Interior Designer could mean many things; costly mistakes, costly outsourcing, and cut corners — because they aren’t equipped to deliver as professionals. We encourage our clients to do their due diligence when selecting a partner.
